Though we’ve been blessed with summer rain, the uplifting spirit of June is upon us at Pushin’On. We welcome the summer with a tribute to some classic b-boy breaks, ‘live’ and on the decks. Lets loosen those joints and sidestep that uprock.
The Mighty Mighty ‘Live’
The house band of Pushin’On welcomed 2011 with a streamlined lineup and a hard-hitting, muscular sound. Now a 6-piece fronted by Masterpiece, the Mighty Mighty returns to the 3rd floor of Blu Jaz Café with a new drummer and a selection of b-boy anthems. Originally planned for a b-boy battle that the band got cancelled from, this selection of b-boy breaks includes classics from Bobby Byrd, Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers and the Bamboos. Tonight, the Mighty Mighty goes hard.
The Mighty Mighty is;
Drums – Vimal Veeran (DEBUT)
Bass – Bernard Chung
Guitar – Daryll Tay
Sax – George Leong
Trumpet – Joel Dekkers
Vox & Keys – Masterpiece
PLUS Pushin’On residents DJ Shellsuit, DJ Chunk, DJ Dave Code & Masterpiece spinning funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz, swing, disco, boogie and rockabilly over 2 floors of Blu Jaz Café.
